"Black, Grey and White Paris"
Analog photography

Photo project "Black, gray and white Paris"

The photo project "Black, gray and white Paris" originally got its name due to the fact that purely technically, only black and white film

was used in the project. Then the idea came up to add "gray" to the name, since it is known that if you mix all the colors, you get gray. It turned out, as it were, an allegory that, firstly, in black and white photography there are all colors, and secondly, in black and white photography, without being distracted by color, you can immerse yourself in the full and mixed range of emotions from the events that occur in the picture and, watching, pass these emotions through yourself, to get pure, without impurities, your emotions from viewing photos.

The project was inspired by such masters of street black and white film photography as: Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau,

William Klein, Robert Frank, ... The list is long. For those who are interested, I think that now it is not at all difficult to find information on

the Internet.

The beginning of the project was still within the student interest in film photography. I studied at the MJM High School of Photography in Paris and our subject was film photography. We filmed ourselves with a film camera. Yes, yes, the same where there are only 36 frames.

This, by the way, is great for training a sense of composition, the ability to set the right parameters (there there is no automatic shooting mode), the ability to catch the moment, ... still, because there are only 36 frames and that's it. This is not a digital camera or a phone where you can shoot in bursts. So, we filmed ourselves, developed the film ourselves. They then printed their own photographs. That's when this project was started. Some of the many photographs taken were especially successful and I got the idea to make a photo project to show Paris in the 21st century through the prism of a film camera. So to speak, the connection of the 21st and 20th centuries.

All photos are not staged and one hundred percent were taken on the streets of Paris. It took a lot of patience many shots and many hours of waiting for the "same" frame, which is the one and only.

The project was globally implemented over several years. But even now I sometimes supplement it with new shots.

All photos of the project are numbered and each photo exists only in 30 copies signed by the author.

The project successfully participated in many exhibitions in Paris. In particular, twice he was selected to participate in the exhibition in Senate of Paris.

I wish you all a pleasant viewing. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of black and white Paris, as I see it through the peephole viewfinder. And add some gray, which will mix all the colors of your emotions!

Моне жил в 19 веке. Уорхол в двадцатом. Моне идейный вдохновитель импрессионизма. Уорхол идеолог коммерческого поп-арт. Кажется, что эти две планеты никогда не должны пересекаться.

"Moscow" analog photo
Mini photo series "Moscow"
Analog photography

I am, of course, a photographer living permanently in Paris, but I love to travel. In particular, I really like Moscow, like a city. Its endlessly

long streets, its variety of architecture (often haphazard and chaotic), its train stations with constant fuss, of course, insanely beautiful subway. I was not allowed to take pictures in the subway. Like, no one! But on streets is possible. So far, I have selected 3 photos with different plots and messages. But they are united by the fact that they are made on photographic film. And I think that the project will remain as a mini-series.

The first photo is Red Square at night with a half-ghost man on the right. It seems that time has stopped here and only the movement

of a person shows us that life goes on, but in such a semi-mystical way. After morning will come and life will spin with a new force of everyday life in the capital. In the meantime - the tranquility of the night silence.

The second photo is a reflection of the piling up and diversity of architectural styles in contemporary Moscow. Also a variety of energy messages. Noteworthy is the man on the roof of the bell tower and the look of Jesus, which, as it were, carefully protects this person,

and, probably, all the people in the city. The look is calm. In the background is a modern high-rise building, which symbolizes the human anthill of modern life.

The third photo expresses the tragedy of modern society, which is that there is a lot of loneliness in the world. A lonely, abandoned dog

that walks through the parking lot with expensive (and not so) cars. Most likely, the dog is hungry, but nobody cares about her. I guess

we all look a little like her. Looking at this photo, I want to say: people, be kinder! Because I want a little kindness and compassion in this world.

All photos of the project are numbered and each photo exists only in 30 copies signed by the author.

The project successfully participated in many exhibitions in Paris. In particular, twice he was selected to participate in the exhibition in Senate of Paris.

I wish you all a pleasant viewing.

"Rooftops of Paris"
View of Paris from the roof of Notre Dame Cathedral before the fire on April 15, 2019
A series of photographs "Roofs of Paris"
View of Paris from the roof of Notre Dame Cathedral before the fire
on April 15, 2019

Everyone knows that the last fire of the famous Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris occurred on April 15, 2019. Indeed, this

is a terrible tragedy, since the cathedral is one of the symbols of Paris. Even before Hugo's novel it was of great

historical importance. And after the release of the novel, the whole world recognized Notre Dame. Yes, and the novel contributed his role in saving the cathedral from destruction. The cathedral has gone through different times and

I believe that this time it will get out of this situation with dignity.

That evening I was at home, on Rue Lafayette, and all of a sudden there was this news. I didn't believe it at first, it

sounded so crazy. Then I calmed down, because I know that the fire station is very close to Notre Dame. And in the confidence that the fire would be extinguished in fifteen minutes, she even went to bed calmly. But in the morning with horror I learned that the fire was put out all night, that a lot of it burned down and the spire, which was installed in the

19th century, burned down and collapsed. I remember that feeling of loss and confusion.

Of course, in the morning I went to the cathedral with a camera. There were already reporters from all over the world.

There were a lot of people and everyone was crying and did not understand how this could happen.

Only when I came home, already in the evening, I remembered that just about two weeks before the fire, I suddenly felt

an irresistible desire of the photographer to climb Notre Dame and capture the views of Paris from its towers. Then I

also spent the whole day near Notre Dame. First in line to climb up, then on the roof itself. Photographed and admired. These are the pictures provided here.

Then I did not know that perhaps the last time I had such an opportunity and it will already be unique footage. But, I still hope someday to climb Notre Dame and see the rooftops in Paris.

I wish you all a pleasant viewing!
